Several people
have long nurtured the misconception that money is evil, when it fact it is
neither evil nor good. It's what people do with money that makes it evil or
good. The Biblical reference actually states that the "LOVE" of money
is the root of all evil and not money in itself.
When you succumb to the
allures of money and make it your master, or your god, then it becomes all
wrong. When you take control over money and manage it wisely and use it for
good purposes, then it is definitely a very good thing. Using it for God's
purpose in your life is an act of good stewardship and is a form of personal
worship, which makes it an instrument for good.
Being wealthy
is not an evil thing, but what you do with your wealth determines whether you
are good or bad. The Bible states that wealth comes from God and that He gives
us the ability to produce wealth. It only becomes evil if it is used for evil
purposes. There are several wealthy persons in the Bible and throughout history
who are good, or have made good use of their wealth to help others,
particularly the poor. Rich people have the opportunity to do good for others
through the ministry of giving and there are several channels available for
people to do so.
As long as your
wealth is acquired in a good and Godly manner, meaning your money was obtained
or worked for through fair and honest means then you should not feel any guilt
for becoming wealthy. It is but proper that you enjoy the use of this wealth or
money, including helping others who could not help themselves. In fact, you
should even realize that the reason why you have such wealth could be just that
- to help others with your money and to do good.
