Deven Parekh and Other Henry Crown Fellows: Models of Exemplary Leadership

The Henry Crown Fellowship Program of the Aspen Institute aims to develop a new generation of values-centered leaders walking in the footsteps of Henry Crown (1896-1990), a Chicago-based industrialist who exemplified the true meaning of community-spirited leadership in his legendary life and career dedicated to honor, integrity, industry and philanthropy. Henry Crown, as part of his philanthropic pursuits in his days, was said to have given away sums amounting to nine-figures in value even before he turned 79. 

The Aspen Institute provides the tools, trainings, intellectual and personal development seminars to develop these new breed of leaders worthy to receive the Henry Crown Fellowship. One such recipient is Deven Parekh among others and each year, a group of twenty American leaders and institutions that have exhibited the highest potentials are chosen to participate in this two-year fellowship program. 

Previous participants in this program like Deven Parekh have undergone and attended a series of well-designed seminars, policy programs and public conferences that were aimed at developing their leadership skills, creating a new generation of leaders that are young, diverse, and highly motivated while at the same time exhibit the highest in honor, integrity and enduring values. 

The Aspen Institute aims to create a positive impact on leadership in the 21^st century through this program, fostering and developing values-based leadership that reflect the ideals defining what a good society is in their lives. Henry Crown fellows exhibit such values-based leadership, like in the case of Deven Parekh and his work as a board member for Publicolor, a non-profit organization that aims to motivate disaffected teenaged students through the use of colors and paintings, in an atmosphere that helps them improve and develop the quality and appearance of their learning environments.
